Order of Lenin is the highest award of the USSR. Established by the Decree of the Presidium of the Central Executive Committee of the USSR on April 6, 1930, it honors individuals, collectives, institutions, enterprises, and public organizations for their special merits in socialist construction, defense of the Motherland, and strengthening its defense power.
People who achieve the titles of Hero of the Soviet Union and Hero of Socialist Labour receive the Order of Lenin. Additionally, individuals receive it when they are awarded the “Gold Star” or “Sickle and Hammer” medals again. Recipients wear this prestigious order on the left side of the chest, in front of other orders. Made of gold, the applied image of Lenin is crafted from platinum.
The postcard, published by Planet Publishers House in Moscow in 1975, measures 5 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ (14 x 9 cm). This piece symbolizes the highest honor during the Soviet era. Therefore, it represents a significant part of Soviet history.
