Northern Squirrel Sculpture from LFZ: Fine Porcelain Craftsmanship
The sculpture is made of soft porcelain at the Imperial Porcelain Factory. Hand underglaze painting is used for decoration. The author of the mold is Pavel Veselov, the author of the painting is Viktor Zhbanov. The author’s model was created in 1964. Height – 1.85 inch. There are relatively few miniature sculptures by Veselov, and all of them have a peculiarity connected with the condition of their perception – at a close distance, in the hand. They are distinguished by the integrity of the silhouette and fine elaboration of small details. The year 1964 was especially “fruitful” for small figurines, when two versions of chipmunk appeared, as well as paired squirrel and northern squirrel. These figurines are characterized by dynamism and refinement of the silhouette.
